An Occupational Hazard
Following the recent well received seminars on mental health with Square One Law and Peel Psychological Consultancy we’re hosting a workshop style event aimed at heads of HR/HR Director.
We’ve found that mental health is a major factor affecting all businesses whether it’s the cost and disruption caused by absence or the inefficiency and lack of engagement/performance caused by presenteeism. You will know that most capability (both ill-health and performance) policies and procedures are easily applied to physical conditions but less effective when dealing with mental health.
The workshop will be facilitated by Jean-Pierre van Zyl , head of employment and Simon Loy, senior employment partner at Square One Law and Nicole Addis, consultant psychotherapist at Peel Psychological Consultancy.
Our aim is to generate discussion through light touch presentation to identify the strategic importance of the topic to the businesses represented and encourage brainstorming on common issues. We’d like to develop a management model for mental health in the workplace based on Peel’s ENGAGE model and to provide guidance to help businesses operate within the law including strategies to identify the genuine cases from the non-meritorious cases.
We hope to find a thus far elusive model that strikes the right balance between a constructive, supportive approach to mental health while not being too soft/indulgent cognisant of improving employee engagement and productivity.
We’d be delighted if you could attend the workshop at our offices on Thursday 29 June 2017. We anticipate a prompt start at 9am and will draw proceedings to a close by 11.30am. As space is limited to 10 delegates may I ask you to please confirm whether you are able to attend then I’ll reserve a space for you?
